An epiphany, of sorts--
Hearing the art produced by your hands
Seeing the smile on your face
As you're lost in the music
And I'm swept away with you
On the soaring notes you coax
From ivory and black.
I've had an awakening,
Here, just now.
Simply by being by your side
As you draw forth the dawn
With no more effort
Than a bird taking flight,
You've caught me up in your melody
And I never want to break free.

I dance with ease
Moving to beats and
Weaving patterns with my feet
To the untried heart
My poems speak volumes
Reaching within
To pluck out the emotion
To the unpracticed ear
I sing beautifully
Lilting a soft echo
Of the songs I perform
But to the trained, the tried
The practiced souls
My feet stumble in the dance
My words ring untrue
And my notes fall flat
For I am but a mere impostor
A fictitious pretender
Who relies upon the inexperience
Of my watchers, my readers, my listeners
To gloss over the imperfections
As I parade about my so-called art.
